HA Masters Events 2026 - call for officials to nominate.

Please be advised that the HA Masters Events and Officiating Pillar Group (EOPG) has released the applications for officials for 2026 HA Masters Events.

Event details are as follows:
Australian Women's Masters Championships: 
2026 Hockey Australia Women’s Masters Championships 
Adelaide, South Australia (State Hockey Centre). 
T1:  September 24 – October 3, 2026. 
(overflow at Port Adelaide Hockey Club) 
  
Australian Men's Masters Championships: 
2026 Hockey Australia Men’s Masters Championships 
Gold Coast Hockey Centre, Gold Coast 
Gold Coat Performance Centre, Gold Coast 
T2:  24 September – 4 October (34+ to 50+ age divisions) – 2 divisions per age group 
T3:  30 September – 10 October (55+ to 80+ age divisions) – 2 divisions per age group excl O75, O80
(overflow at Nikki Hudson Centre, Runaway Bay)  
 
Applications close 8 March 2026, but may be extended if required.

Hockey WA and the WA Masters Hockey Committee are pleased to announce that Nominations are open 
for players for 2026 Men’s and Women’s State Masters Teams.

PLEASE NOTE: we are using a new nomination system this year.  The link at the bottom will take you to a TeamStar website to nominate using your Hockey Australia registered information (supplied when nominating for your local hockey club).

A Nomination must be made on the Nomination Form on this website.  The Committee will place each player into their relevant age division according to your age as at 31 Dec 2026).  

 

There is a non-refundable fee of $55 to complete a Nomination.  (Note: a refund will be given if a team is not sent in your age group)

 

Nominations State Masters Teams close at 5.00pm on the Thursday before the relevant first trial.

Women’s Team Selection Trials will be held as follows:

2-day trial Weekend 18 and 19 April 2026 (Saturday and Sunday) at the UWA Turfs (7am to 11am)

Men’s team Trials will be held as follows: 

Men’s 34 to 60 trials, will be held on Monday 1 June 2026 from 6pm at TBA. Specific times for ages will be advised later.
Men’s 65 to 80 trials, will be held on Wednesday 3 June 2026 at Perth Hockey Stadium PHS 2 from 11.00am.

WA Over 60's - 2011 Match Reports

 


WA vs VIC - Friday, September 30, 2011


In the first half the game was fairly even, although Victoria had a better share of the play. We conceded two penalty corners of which Victoria scored on the second. Their goal came from a push out straight to the stick stop and direct hit at goal. As the game progressed WA improved and started sharing the play. We forced a corner but were not able to convert. At half time the score was 1- 0 down. 

In the second half WA began to string together some good passing and put Victoria under pressure, forcing several penalty corners. However we were not decisive enough on our corners and squandered our opportunities to score. Victoria unfortunately scored when the umpires allowed them to hit the ball into the circle without it travelling five metres. This gave them a buffer which we could not overtake, although we finished the game in a very strong manner, which was very pleasing. 

Result: WA 0 - VIC 2


WA vs NSW - Saturday, October 1, 2011


WA played very well for the first fourteen minutes before allowing NSW to score a runaway goal. WA continued to hold their own until the twenty ninth minute when NSW scored a break away field goal. At half time WA were 2 - 0 down. 

In the second half, WA shared the play with NSW but conceded a penalty corner which resulted in a third goal in the forty sixth minute. After a bad mistrap by WA, NSW scored a field goal in the fifty first minute. WA tried hard but were unable to get back into the game, going down 4 – 0. This was a disappointing result considering the amount of effort put in by all players. 

Also disappointing was an injury to Helen Johanson who fell and broke her wrist bringing her playing competition to an early end. 

Result: WA 0 - NSW 4


WA vs QLD - Sunday, October 2, 2011


WAs passing in this game was very good and the control of the midfield was excellent. Early in the game, in the ninth minute WA scored their first goal, put in by Rosa off of a penalty corner. WA again scored in the thirty fifth minute when Carol hammered home a goal off a penalty corner to give WA the lead 2 - 0. 

After half time, although WA dominated the game they were unable to add any further score, even though they created many opportunities. The final score remained at 2 – 0. This was a good win instilling confidence in our ability to play as a team. 

Result: WA 2 - QLD 0

WA vs VIC - Tuesday, October 4, 2011


This game was played at quite a good pace with WA controlling the midfield.  
Victoria were frustrated by the fact that they had beaten us 2 - 0 in the first game but they were shut out in this second game.  
WA created more penalty corners than Victoria. 

WA continued to play well. Jesse our goalkeeper played a great game, making some excellent diving saves and a brilliant overhead clearing kick.  
The game ended nil all which was a pleasing result considering the result of the first game against Victoria. 

Result: WA 0 - VIC 0


WA vs NSW - Wednesday, October 5, 2011


The game started with NSW being awarded a penalty corner (the result of a controversial umpiring decision), and converting, giving them a 1- 0 lead.  
WA fought back into the match and scored through Lorraine at the eighteenth minute to level the scores.  
During the next ten minutes WA made several unforced errors allowing NSW to gain two more goals and giving them a 3 - 1 lead at half time. 

During the second half WA tried to fight back but conceded a goal in the forty sixth minute against the run of play to go down 4 -1 at the final whistle. 

Result: WA 1 - NSW 4

WA vs QLD - Thursday, October 6, 2011


The introduction of Kerry Hood to the forward line at Right Wing and a good movement down the right hand side allowed Kerry to convert the score to 1- 0.  
This allowed WA to dominate for the first ten to fifteen minutes.  
Then QLD forced a corner against a run of play. A bad mistackle at the top of the D allowed them to score making it 1 all. This allowed them to gain confidence, and get back into the game. A series of bad tackles down WAs left flank allowed QLD to penetrate the circle and from the resulting scrimmage they popped the ball in to make it 2 - 1.  
WA lost their momentum and QLD began to create attacking opportunities.  
WA lost vital key players, Lorraine and Carol in the midfield due to injury, allowing QLD to dominate the game. 
At half time the score was WA 1 QLD 2. 

After half time the team regrouped. Even though we were decimated with injuries, WA began to play team hockey, passing the ball and creating many opportunities.  
Against the run of play QLD scored their third goal.  
WA continued to pass the ball and get back into the game when Kerry K scored their second goal off a well struck penalty corner.  
For the remaining fifteen minutes of the game, WA dominated, forcing many penalty corners and having four or five shots at goal but failing to convert the many opportunities, QLD ran out 3 - 2 winners. 

Result: WA 2 - QLD 3

Bronze Medal Playoff WA vs QLD - Friday, October 7, 2011


WA made a disappointing start with lots of fundamental errors allowing QLD to gain confidence.  
QLD had a defensive structure which did not allow us to create any structure in the midfield.  
QLDs first goal was scored off of a direct penalty corner hit.  
Later, confusion in defence allowed QLD a direct shot at goal giving them a 2 - 0 lead.  
The third goal for QLD came off of a penalty corner variation which allowed their pusher in to sneak the ball in on the far side.  
WA were down 3 - 0 at half time. 

In the second half WA began to string passes together and play as a unit. They created several penalty corner opportunities and after an attack down the right hand flank the ball was crossed, allowing Rosa on the left wing to slog it home to give WA an opening score.  
The whole tone of the game changed with WA dominating and creating many opportunities. 
From a penalty corner Kerry K scored off a direct shot at goal to make the score 2 – 3.  
The game was on!  
WA threw everything into attack creating many chances, forcing many penalty corners and goal scoring opportunities.  
QLD defended desperately and although WA gave their all they were unlucky not to score an equaliser.  
The game ended with QLD finishing 3 – 2.  

WA must learn to control the game from the start, and not play catch up. 

Result: WA 2 - QLD 3
