WA vs WAC - Monday, September 28, 2015
The opening match of the tournament a block buster!
Our big strong hard working country cousins versus us, the soft office bound city wimps. The oppressive Cairns heat beating down relentlessly, humidity at 200 percent (roughly). A recipe for a cracking spectacle.
It started well, in fact very well for WAC. All of them made it onto the field in a lovely straight line. In fact this was the first clue to their patterns of play, lovely straight lines.
It is at this stage it is worth mentioning our Coach? He is as my father would say 'a detail man' if it can't all be said in one meeting keep having them until it is all said! Nine, no that isn't just no in German, but the number of meetings it took to nut out our game plan - go right and run with the ball until you run out of field then turn left! See, not a single meeting wasted.
But I digress. The game was some days ago so the memory is hazy. Here goes, Jimmy did something really good and so did some other guys, I know because we had a meeting about it. Look, the truth is we kicked their little furry bums 5 nil. An experience I believe awaits many more teams this tournament.
